Beppu has more to offer than just its hot springs. There are alleyways where one can feel the time since before the war, the hospitable people who have historically embraced diversity, and the many unique stores that are known throughout Japan. It is a very attractive town where many artists and foreigners reside. HAJIMARI Beppu is a place where you can "immerse" yourself in the city of Beppu and begin your journey or life of Beppu.
Rooms are also available for guests to stay, work, and create as if they were living in the hotel. We hope you will enjoy your stay in Beppu as a resident and let us show you a Beppu full of charms that only the locals know.

The hotel was created by an architect, a pottery,
artists, and creators

Taking advantage of the fact that the owner (husband) is an architect, the hotel was converted from a former wholesale liquor warehouse built in 1977, with seismic reinforcement. While preserving the appearance of the original building as much as possible, we revitalized it into a safe and comfortable hotel space. In addition, artists and creators who are friends of the owner and who live in or have connections with Beppu and Oita participated in the creation of the hotel. Visitors can encounter creations that will help them get to know the area through painting, writing, sculpture, photography, design, and a variety of other skills.

New hub for community life and interaction

The lounge on the first floor will serve food and drinks made with ingredients from local producers, and will be a place where guests can relax and local residents can casually drop by. The public space in the building can also be used as a gallery and event space, creating ongoing opportunities for interaction between guests and the community.
