A new hub for city life
and exchange

The HAJIMARI LOUNGE on the ground floor, a two-storey atrium space in a former warehouse, is the exchange centre with a cafe yuami, a shop and a cassette & book library. The public space of the building, including the lounge, can be used as a gallery and event space, where new culture can be fostered through chance encounters between visitors and local people.

Region and people

Historically, Beppu has welcomed a variety of people as a town of hot springs. The southern part of Beppu, where HAJIMARI Beppu is located, has long been the region where crafts have flourished, and many artists and creators still live there. You can experience the pottery class at the Beppu Satellite Studio of HAJIMARI Beppu's hostess, ceramic artist Wakako Sakamoto.
Please ask a staff if you would like to try a class. We also plan to organise workshops by artists living in the neighbourhood, so please check our SNS.
